Fellowship Spotlight: Gitzel Anguiano

Gitzel Anguiano is a third-year at the University of Georgia studying international affairs and public relations with a minor in French. She is also pursuing a public affairs communication certificate. Gitzel is involved in a number of organizations on campus including Speak Out for Species, Hispanic Student Association, Young Democrats, Student Government Association and the French Living and Learning Community. As a Fellow, she aims to gain a greater understanding of how government works while also meeting hardworking people who share her aspirations. Her interest in politics was sparked by the 2016 election, which motivated her to speak out on issues affecting her community. Her work with the Fellowship has focused on environmental policy, and throughout this work, she has noticed the need for greater intentionality in states’ environmental policy. Her favorite UGA memories are staying up with her first-year roommate and going to the Snelling dining house to eat breakfast together. One of the things Gitzel always looks forward to is seeing her family.
